“Make mental health your greatest asset, not your liability.”

You feel it’s too hard
Ought to carry on but life’s falling apart🍂
Unsurprisingly you’ve too much to do
Those feelings and thoughts, you set aside to🫥
Hark, peace! Can you listen to your heart?

Enrich oneself
Nurture one another🌱
Rise above adversity
Improve and move on.
Cherish your life
Honor our time⏳
Meet the inner self
Empower the soul.
Neglect not your real thoughts💭
Try to reconnect, and reconcile.

That’s why I’m part of Youth Enrichment Team
Emphasizing psychology and mental health,
A team to promote mental well-being.
My fellow young people, join us on this journey?

“Creating a bigger social impact”

I was delighted to have participated in YET last year as the Co-Chairperson to promote mental health on our own. It was such a challenging and rewarding journey, and it was worth it, especially witnessing many attendees during our public event as well as case competition. After last year’s program, I felt empowered to continue advocating mental health in the future. With prior experience, this year, I aim to strive for a greater social impact through collaborating with more mental health organizations and engaging interactively with our target audience, and YOU are absolutely invited! See all of you in our upcoming event!

“It’s okay not to be okay.”

With the knowledge I have gained in my classes, I would like to further expand upon it and transform this knowledge into actions that can benefit people. My goal is to raise awareness of mental health in the public because I believe it is crucial for society to comprehend these topics. By doing so, we can work towards reducing stigma and fostering a more inclusive society.

Having had friends who have experienced mental illnesses, I recall feeling unsure of how to provide assistance during those times. This personal experience has heightened my awareness of the significance of spreading this message within society.

“We are all simply human”

During the pandemic, I was fortunate to be able to connect with an online community. But between observing the community and my form 6 classmates, it was clear that our mental health wasn’t great and that we should gain better mentalities. I believe that by learning about ourselves: our needs, inner beliefs and personality, we can gain healthier relationships, mindsets and lifestyles. That is why I seek to learn psychology, to understand myself and better support others along the process.

My experience led me to realize the importance of empathy and community, as kindness and connection is significant in improving our mental health and having a fulfilling life. So dear reader, will you go on a journey to support others and one of self-discovery? Never forget, that we are all human and that love and support are what we all deserve. If you would like to learn about psychology and raise awareness on mental health, come and join us in our future activities!

“Stay healthy Stay happy”

I have always been fascinated by psychology as I think it is a very attractive and interesting subject to me. Exploring the human mind, from its memories, emotions to our behaviours, are truly captivating to me.

Mental health is one of the aspects of psychology. According to my observation, I found that many of us do not realize mental health is as important as physical health. We seldom take care of or pay attention to it. To stay healthy, not only need to be physically fit but also mentally well. Stay healthy, stay happy. Lack of public awareness of mental health contributes to many stigmas in society. Even if we think we are mentally sick, we will not seek help. Seeking help seems to be a shameful thing. This misconception is deeply ingrained. It’s not shameful at all to seek help. To change the mindset, education and promotion are required.

Being a part of YET committee members, I have learned a lot here. If you are interested in psychology or eager to know more about mental health, please stay tuned for our upcoming activities!

“It’s ok to be not ok.”

Mental Health has always been an essential aspect of one’s well-being. After years of stressful events, mental health has been more prevalent than ever before. However, society still tends to stigmatise people who suffer from mental health conditions and seem deviant from the norm.

I have witnessed the mental health struggles of those around me, which has made me keenly aware of the challenges faced by those with mental illnesses and the societal stigma they often bear. These experiences have reinforced my determination to contribute positively to the mental health landscape in Hong Kong.

Being a part of the YET committee, I hope to use my experience in project planning and management to raise public awareness of mental health and reduce societal stigma. Fostering a more compassionate and understanding society where mental health is prioritised, we can then embrace the idea of “it’s ok to be not ok”.

“Empowering minds, transforming lives.”

I am a determined psychology student passionate about promoting and prioritising mental wellness in our society. My dedication extends beyond the classroom, as I actively seek opportunities to encourage individuals to seek the help they need. Understanding the mental health needs and challenges in society, my goal is to spread knowledge about wellness and promote self-care. I want to empower not only people encountering mental health challenges but also those who want to help people around them.

My journey is not just about academic pursuits, but also a personal mission to create a ripple effect of awareness and empathy within the community. By organising different events, I want to advocate for a more supportive and understanding society; I hope to inspire others to seek help and be vigilant towards those in need around them. Health is a state of the body. Wellness is a state of being. By participating in our upcoming events, I hope everyone can feel empowered to take charge of their mental health and make positive impacts by gaining more insights into mental wellness.

“You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be human.”

In our fast-paced society, the pressure to constantly better ourselves and secure our livelihoods can be overwhelming. Society often sends us the message to be fearless and always put on a brave face. However, it’s important to recognize that facing challenges in life is inevitable. It’s perfectly normal and acceptable to experience negative emotions during these times. Unfortunately, society tends to stigmatize individuals who struggle with negative emotions or mental disorders.

I strongly believe in reducing this stigma and promoting a culture of self-compassion, empathy, and seeking help. It is crucial that we encourage people to acknowledge their struggles, be kind to themselves, and extend understanding and support to others. By fostering an environment where seeking help is seen as a sign of strength rather than weakness, we can create a society that prioritizes mental well-being and provides the necessary resources for individuals to thrive.

“You don’t have to struggle in silence.”

Mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being. It involves our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Having a good mental health status can bring us solutions to the daily stresses of life.

One valuable lesson I have learned throughout the highs and lows of life is that maintaining good mental health has a significant impact on our overall well-being. It’s normal to feel stressed during challenging times, but how we handle and manage our negative emotions is a lifelong skill that everyone should strive to learn.

Taking care of our mental health is an essential aspect of leading a fulfilling life. It is crucial to prioritize our mental well-being and seek professional help whenever we feel overwhelmed or anxious. A healthy mind enables us to be more productive, make better decisions, and contribute positively to our communities. Seeking support from a mental health professional provides us with the tools and skills to manage our emotions and cope with stress effectively. It is okay to ask for help, and doing so is a sign of strength and self-awareness. Remember, taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

“Know thyself.”

In a rapidly changing world, where social standards and expectations constantly shift, we are likely to gain pressure and feel stressed due to the chase of success, worsen our mental health. Know ourselves acts as a safeguard against the stress resulted by relentless pursuit of success. By understanding our values, strengths, limitations and also our authentic goals, we could maintain a sense of balance with the ever-evolving demands of society. As a committee, I would like to disseminate this message to the wider public through our future activities, inspiring individuals to discover their unique path towards a life of fulfillment.

“The stars don’t shine, they burn”

Mental health is about accepting who you are, appreciating your presence, and acknowledging your feelings. We are the dazzling stars in the sky, putting effort into doing our best and feeling included every day. But exhaustion and helplessness come from time to time despite shining bright, and it’s okay to feel that way. Being a star doesn’t mean we need to be perfect, but being able to embrace our flaws and deal with them. It is not necessary to shine 24/7, and it’s okay to take a rest. We don’t have to be perfect; we just need to be real. Taking breaks, resting, and recharging are essential for our well-being. It’s like giving our souls a gentle hug and saying, ‘You’re doing great, and you deserve this time for yourself.’ Let’s prioritize ourselves and acceptance on this journey to well-being.

“Human energy is infectious.”

Driven by pure curiosity in understanding human behaviors, I started delving deeper into Psychology. By chance, I was fortunate enough to be granted an opportunity to join the committee team to gain the hands-on experiences I’ve been longing for.

It has always been my dream to cultivate an inclusive society through social innovations. I believe that mental health awareness can be raised by building meaningful connections. As human energy is infectious, I hope our activities are able to convey positive messages about mental health and build a heartwarming community. Despite the challenges we may all face, we can heal ourselves together by spreading warmth and empathy. By taking one step at a time, we will all be able to make a difference in fostering our mental health.

As a committee member, I’ll strive to make a positive impact on the community and be better every day. Please stay tuned and join our upcoming activities!

Living a fast-paced life, people often tend to overlook their own mental health. As a result, there was a rise in the number of suicide cases. Being interested in psychology, I have always wondered how to address this issue.

Sophie Yeung - Member

Mental health is one of the aspects that construct the health triangle. As such, it is essential for us to put equal emphasis on it. Education and lending a hand to people in need in the community is thus our responsibility to create a harmonious and positive society.
